Sérignan
And contemporary art

The link between contemporary art and the city of Sérignan dates back to the 90s, when the Espace d’art contemporain Gustave Fayet was created. Since 1991, this space has presented high-quality temporary exhibitions highlighting renowned artists. In 2006, the municipality decided to create a museum to promote its collection and thus was born the Regional Museum of Contemporary Art (RMCA).

The RMCA, opened in 2010, is an extension of the existing Contemporary Art Space. It now offers more than 2000 m² of exhibition space, allowing the presentation of ever more ambitious exhibitions. In 2016, the museum was expanded and renovated with the acquisition of additional premises, offering a total area of more than 3200 m².
The façade of the building is clad in a work made in situ by Bruno Peiando, “Il faut reconstruire l’Hacienda” and which responds to the glass facades of the initial building composed of stained glass windows by Daniel Buren. To complete this dialogue, the Icelandic artist Erro has affixed a ceramic fresco of “Les femmes fatales”.
The RMAC holds an exceptional collection that offers an overview of artistic creation from the 60s to the present day. Composed of paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures, installations and videos
More than 550 works
The museum houses more than 550 works that are regularly presented thematically or poetically, offering a renewed experience with each visit and also hosts temporary exhibitions of contemporary art figures such as in 2023 with the John Armleder exhibition. “Yakety Yak”.
